Over 76,000 gallons of oil are spilled each year due to pipeline equipment failure. Seals, the heart of many large turbomachines, are particularly important elements to consider. TOBOR solves this problem by integrating sensing into the seal. Our proprietary, 3-D printable filament, FilaSet, is 1.5x the ultimate strength and 2x the maximum operational temperature of current filaments on the market, has excellent wear-resistance, and is a sustainable material. Fabricating a seal face using our material and embedding the needed sensing will facilitate real-time condition monitoring of the seal. This allows for the prediction of leakage and failure and wear patterns.
