About This Contest:
Videotape yourself conducting to one of the two audio excerpts we have provided for you, available at classical917.org/contest.

• Richard Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” (Vorspiel to Act III of Die Walküre)

• Richard Strauss’s “Also sprach Zarathustra,” op. 30

Through your Facebook or Twitter account, upload your video to Qukku as a YouTube link. Then, viewers will cast their votes on their favorites. The video with the most votes wins a $300 cash card!

The Top 3 Winners will be announced by Chris Johnson, host of the Afternoon Drive at 4:15 pm CST this Thursday, May 2nd on Classical 91.7 FM and for those of you outside of Houston, listen online at classical917.org/listen.

Tips: Set up your camera on a steady surface. Make sure that the camera captures your entire head and upper body to the waist. Check how the audio sounds on your video before uploading it.

Prizes:
1st Place Winner will receive a $300 cash card PLUS an opportunity to conduct the Houston Symphony in a single work in one of the Sounds Like Fun concerts of 2013!

2nd Place Winner: will get a pair of tickets to “A Graf Farewell”, the last concert of Houston Symphony Music Director Hans Graf, on Friday, May 17th or Saturday May 18th at 7:30 PM.

3rd Place Winner will be given a Classical 91.7 Grab Bag!

Top winning entries will have a chance to be highlighted on HoustonPBS. Broadcast entries will be chosen at the discretion of HoustonPBS.

Rules and Requirements:
You are strongly encouraged to use either of our provided samples at our website. If you choose to air-conduct another classical piece, it must be no more than 2 minutes long. All videos must be uploaded by May 1st to be considered. The winner is determined by the most votes.
